3. Summer Camp - Survival Science

22nd - 26th July 2024

Description

Discover the science of survival as we develop skills in bushcraft, teamwork and the outdoors. Activities include water purification, tracking, trap building, shelter making and camouflage. Children will engineer a solar oven, learn what fire needs to burn, will help cook campfire food, build their own torch and much more. Children have the opportunity to test bravery in our exciting bush tucker trial where children collect stars for their teams by attempting challenges including tasting edible insects, and reaching blindfolded for stars amongst some creepy crawlies! There will be an adventure trip of either stand up paddling, high ropes or rock climbing. We have an incredible program of fun, themed activities to spark the children`s interest and imagination. Children will discover science and begin to use the scientific method to investigate and explore concepts helping them to think critically and problem solve. Our themed sports sessions promote physical activity in a fun and engaging way. Throughout the week we serve healthy food and encourage teamwork and friendships through shared mealtimes, snacks and opportunities for free play and themed crafts. We understand the importance of friendships and every morning camp starts with team games enabling the children to settle in quickly. We do everything we can to help the children make friends because we realize this has a huge impact on the enjoyment of the week for children. Our camps are unique from a school environment. We believe in replicating real life situations where all ages work together. Younger campers look up to and learn from older campers who are role models. They take more responsibility and develop important leadership skills. We care deeply about every single child and our priority is the children`s safety, happiness and wellbeing. We encourage participation but always have an alternative supervised option. Time: 9:30 – 16:30 Drop off: 9:00 – 9:30 Pick up: 16:30 – 16:45 Parking: Limited, 5-10 minutes walk away.
